Hello Sisters -
First, I apologize for the long lapse in my blogging! We have had a busy month as a chapter. We've had two meetings and two events since my last post! Wohoo!
Homecoming at CNU was A.M.A.Z.I.N.G. thanks to our social chair Morgan Harrell! She and several other sisters (and one amazing husband - Vonda's) played a huge role in putting it all together! We had an awesome turn out (I think we had the most people at our tailgate).
Check out the photos at the bottom of the page! If anyone else has photos please let me know and we can upload those too!
We already have the 2013 Tailgate plans in the works, so if you want to get involved or have input, let us know ASAP.
AND Happy Belated Founder's Day to you all!! In case you missed it, on Sunday, November 11th, we went and celebrated Gamma Phi Beta's Founder's Day with the collegiate women of Epsilon Iota at CNU.
We celebrated with a short ceremony, punch, cake and (thanks to Vonda) olives and peanuts. If you don't know what the olives and peanuts represent please make it a point to ask Vonda next time you see her!
The short ceremony was a great reminder for me about what it meant to be a Gamma Phi Beta. Our Founders worked sooooo hard to create an environment where women of all ages could thrive. And they did so in a time where women were not accepted as equal. They broke barriers and made the path for us a little bit easier. Following their lead in helping other women is a privilege that we should all take advantage of. And being a Gamma Phi Beta does not stop at your collegiate experience.
I want our chapter to model that type of environment. I want us to provide an environment where women of all ages and walks of life can thrive and better the lives of themselves and others.
I see us building a chapter that offers opportunities...
Now, I think some of you probably think I'm being over the top and you're right... with our current membership we can not do all of this. We can only do so much, but with more members we can do more for ourselves and for others.
So there it is... my vision for the chapter and where I pray that one day we will go. Take it for whatever you want, but know that it is where we are headed so I hope you jump on board!
We do have some exciting things coming up in the next year. Everything from volunteering with our local Girls on the Run organization to hosting a members GNO (Girls Night Out) event. But our next social event will be held in December and will be partnered with our December Quarterly Business Meeting. Details will be coming soon about the time and location but you can go ahead and mark your calendars for December 9th!
If you are not a member and would like to join please do! See our membership tab for more information.
That's all for now!! Hope to see you all in December!!
Love in IIKE,
Christen

I see us building a chapter that offers opportunities...
- To moms via small play groups
- To working women via networking groups where referrals can get passed back and forth
- To new graduates via help with their resumes and job placements
- To women with common interests such as reading via a book club
- To women who want to give back via philanthropic volunteer opportunities
- Or to any other women with a particular need
Now, I think some of you probably think I'm being over the top and you're right... with our current membership we can not do all of this. We can only do so much, but with more members we can do more for ourselves and for others.
